Three of England Women’s World Cup-winning side have announced their retirement from general rugby.
Margaret Alphonsi, Joanna McGilchrist and Katherine Merchant have all done a preference to hang adult their boots following a team’s feat over Canada in Paris final month.
Alphonsi ends her career with 74 caps, while McGilchrist and Merchant done 63 and 58 appearances respectively.
“I’ve been advantageous adequate to have had a good sporting career and feel it’s a right time to retire now that we are universe champions,” Alphonsi, 30, is quoted as observant by Sky Sports News.
“I have so many special memories personification for England though a best one was winning a World Cup. we can now positively retire with a grin on my face.”
England’s World Cup delight was a country’s second after they initial carried a prize in 1994.
